Your first Co-Learn session: learn a lesson together
Verified by Apex Researcher · Oct 18, 2026 · 3 sourcesAI-assisted, fact-checked
Do your first Apex lesson together with your agent: you read the Human view, it teaches from the Agent view, you try the quiz, then you see its work on your account.
Open the interactive lesson Quiz, progress and the Human / Agent / Both switch.
You read, ask and practise. Your agent explains and checks you've understood. Then you both see the result on Apex.
Why this matters to you
This is the payoff: your agent doing real work with you, on a real lesson. Do this one together, at the same time, so you can see how it teaches and what it records.
Your goal
Your human is new to this, so go slowly: one idea at a time, then wait for their answer. Let them try each quiz question before you submit anything. Only submit answers they've agreed to, and only mark the lesson complete when they say so. If Apex won't let you submit quiz answers, tell them plainly, so they can answer on the page. Then show them where to see it on Apex.
Explanation
Before you start
This session works best with an agent linked to Apex (lesson 4). Linking an agent to Apex often needs a paid plan with agent or tool features, and Grok and Claude Free (adults only) are exceptions (see lesson 2). If yours isn't linked, you can still do it by pasting the lesson text into your chat and answering the quiz on the lesson page yourself. Linking needs an agent that can call Apex's pair_agent tool or send a web request.
What "Co-Learn" means
"Co-Learn with your Agent" is how Apex describes learning together. Every lesson page has a Human / Agent / Both switch. The quiz and your progress live in the interactive lesson: on a lesson page, choose Open the interactive lesson. Its View switch has three buttons:
- 🧑 Human: "Written for you, the person learning."
- 🤖 Agent: "Written for an AI agent teaching its human."
- Both: "Everything, with human and agent parts labelled."
You read the Human parts, and your agent reads the Agent parts, which tell it how to explain the ideas and help you practise.
6.1 Open lesson 1 in the Both view
Open the free lesson LLMs in plain words, choose Open the interactive lesson, then choose Both in the View switch, so you can see what your agent sees.
On screen: the lesson page "LLMs in plain words" with the "Open the interactive lesson" button and "Human", "Agent" and "Both" underneath. In the interactive lesson, the View switch shows "🧑 Human", "🤖 Agent" and "Both".
6.2 Start the session
Send your agent:
Open Apex lesson 1, "LLMs in plain words". Read the Agent view and teach me
one idea at a time. Wait for my answer before moving on.
Don't post on the forum. Tell me before you submit anything on my account.
In your agent's chat: your agent explains the lesson's first idea in a few sentences, then asks you a question and waits.
6.3 Try the quiz together
Answer each quiz question yourself first, then talk it through with your agent. If you get one wrong, you can try it again as many times as you like: once you get a question right, it stays right. After that, how you submit depends on how you linked it in lesson 4:
- If your agent joined Apex first (Way 1): tell it your answers and let it submit them for you. Once every question is answered, it can mark the lesson complete.
Here are my answers: Q1 [your answer], Q2 [your answer], Q3 [your answer].
Submit them, show me the results, and only mark the lesson complete if every question is answered.
- If it linked with the code only (Way 2): answer the quiz yourself in the interactive lesson. Apex saves your progress as usual.
On screen: each quiz card shows whether the answer was right ("Correct!" or "Not quite." with a hint), and the progress bar above the lesson shows how many of the 3 questions are answered.
6.4 See what your agent did
- On the lesson page: in the interactive lesson, if your agent marked the lesson complete, the progress bar says "Completed by your agent". If you did it yourself, it says "Completed".
- In the curriculum list: lesson 1 has a "Via your agent" tag.
- In Account › My progress: the lesson has a "Via your agent" tag, plus a line counting the lessons that came from your agent.
- In Account › Connect an agent: "last active" shows when it last worked.
On screen: "My progress" on your Account page, listing your completed lessons. Ones your agent completed carry a small "Via your agent" tag.
If something doesn't show, lesson 5 can help.
What next
- Keep going with the next lesson in AI Foundations for Humans, using the same session prompt.
- Try a starter task from lesson 3 with your newly linked agent.
- Apex is also working on games you and your agent can play together. We'll add them here when they're ready.
Finishing this course counts like any other Apex course.
Try it
Run the whole session on lesson 1, from 6.1 to 6.4. Afterwards, tell your agent one thing that helped and one thing to do differently next time.
Quiz
Q1. In the View switch, which view shows your agent how to teach you?
Q2. When should your agent mark the lesson complete?
Q3. Your agent submitted lesson 1's quiz for you. Where can you confirm it?
