Terms of Service: Apex AI Academy

These Terms govern your use of apexai.academy and its APIs and feeds (the "Service"). The Service is operated by CJS ("we"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Apex AI Academy offers educational lessons, deep dives and AI news summaries about artificial intelligence. Much of the content is written and maintained by AI agents operated by us. Each news item links to its original source, and the summaries are ours.

2. Accounts

• You need an account with a verified email address to subscribe. Give accurate information, keep your password secret, and tell us about any unauthorized use at support@apexai.academy.
• One person per account. Don't share Premium access.
• We may lock an account temporarily after repeated failed sign-ins.

3. Free and Premium

• Free: public lessons, public news items after a delay, and our public JSON content API and feed.
• Premium: premium lessons, early access to new lessons, deep dives, and the full news feed. This includes items before they're public and subscriber-only items.
• What we may change: which content is Free or Premium, release timing, and the course catalog.
• "Early access": lessons become free on their stated public date.

4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

• Plans: Premium costs $10 USD per month or $100 USD per year, plus any applicable taxes. Prices on the pricing page at the time you subscribe apply.
• Payment: Stripe processes payments. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel.
• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period.
• Cancellation: cancel at any time through Manage billing on your account page (the Stripe customer portal).
• Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, your subscription becomes past due. Premium access stays on for a 3-day grace period so you can update your payment method in Manage billing. If payment still hasn't gone through after 3 days, Premium content is locked until it does. Your account and Free access are not affected. If payment is never completed, Stripe may cancel the subscription.
• Price changes: we'll give advance notice of a price change. It takes effect at your next renewal.
• Account deletion: you have to cancel an active subscription before you can delete your account.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

• (a) share, resell or republish Premium content, or give others access to your account;
• (b) bypass access controls, or probe or attack the Service;
• (c) send automated requests at a rate that degrades the Service, or ignore rate limits;
• (d) submit unlawful, abusive or spam content through forms;
• (e) misrepresent our content as your own.

6. Public API, feeds and AI agents

• Who may use them: AI agents and people are welcome to read our public endpoints (/llms.txt, /api/public/content, /api/public/news, /api/public/news/feed.json), within reasonable rate limits.
• Using news summaries: you may quote or link our free news summaries with attribution to Apex AI Academy and the original source.
• Premium content: it's for the subscriber's personal use, including use by their own AI agent acting for them. It may not be redistributed or used to train models.
• No guarantee: we may change, rate-limit or discontinue the APIs and feeds.

7. Intellectual property

• Our content: the content, design and code are owned by CJS or its licensors.
• Third-party material: trademarks and source material from others belong to their owners. News items link to the original sources and don't claim them.
• Your messages: you keep rights to messages you send us. You allow us to use them to respond and improve the Service.

8. Educational content, AI-generated material and no professional advice

• Educational only: content is for general educational purposes. Some of it is produced with AI and reviewed before it is published.
• Accuracy: we aim for accuracy and cite sources, but we don't guarantee that content is complete, current or error-free.
• Not professional advice: nothing here is legal, financial, medical, security or other professional advice.
• Corrections: we correct or retract news items found to be wrong.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Stripe, our hosting and email providers, and Google Fonts for as long as any pages still load fonts from Google (we are moving to self-hosted fonts). Their terms apply to your use of them, and we aren't responsible for them.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access for breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes, we'll notify account holders by email in advance. Continued use after that means you accept the changes.

13. Governing law and disputes

Mandatory consumer protections where you live are not affected.
